Lot 182 Walther P-38 'ac 43' 9mm #3404M
German made DA/SA semi-automatic short recoil operated pistol chambered for 9x19mm ammunition, manufactured circa 1943. Third-Reich era military issued sidearm features a re-blued finish, a 4.9" tapered barrel, dovetailed fixed blade front sight, dovetailed notched rear sight, hinged locking piece assisted breechblock, smooth curved trigger, external hammer with a serrated spur, slide mounted serrated safety/decocker, smooth front strap, serrated heel magazine release, serrated take-down lever, serrated slide stop, dual recoil springs (separate), and two-piece serrated black composite grips with a lanyard ring on the left grip panel. Matching serial numbers on the locking block, slide, barrel, and frame. Waffenamts Eagle/359 are marked on the frame, barrel, and slide. Slide marked 'ac 43' which is a German ordnance code assigned to Carl Walther, Zella-Mehlis, Germany, circa 1943. The re-blued finish retained is approximately 92% with a brown patina on the frame, some scratches on the right side of the slide, and edge wear. Metal exterior displays no rust, but there is a small amount of deformation on the rear corner of the slide. Bore is lightly pitted, but it is still shiny with strong rifling. Composite grips are excellent with some superficial blemishes. The action is smooth and crisp. All stampings are clear and sharp. There is an illegible import mark on the bottom of the barrel.
